Frequently Asked Questions

Some common questions about digital marketing in general, commonly used phrases, glossary, and things clients ask us specifically.

What is digital marketing?

Digital marketing involves marketing to people using Internet-connected electronic devices, namely computers, smartphones and tablets. Digital marketing focuses on channels such as search engines, social media, email, websites and apps to connect with prospects and customers.

Digital marketing is a relatively new field that is constantly evolving.

Would my business benefit from digital marketing?
The success of any business depends on the quality and content of its digital marketing. This includes social media, email newsletters, or emails they send out every day which is how people will come into contact with your company if it isn’t through an advertisement online (which we all know can be expensive). If a person doesn’t hear about you until after he’s done researching who has better prices than whoever pops up first on his search engine results page- chances are good that customers won’t buy from you at all!
What’s the biggest mistake digital marketers make?
The most common mistake made by digital marketers is to try and force their way into every single channel. Instead, it’s best if you contribute regular content on your channels so people stay interested in what product or service they offer without being too pushy about advertisements Mentioning the “brand-centric” approach second biggest error here because far too often we start & stop with no real presence other than maybe one ad between 2 posts which make customers feel thrown off balance when scrolling through feed.
How often should I update my website?
Websites that have been created without any regular updates and new content over time will not perform well. Though a static website technically qualifies as web design, it’s likely to be more than just an informative brochure that produces few or no leads for your business efforts online; this type of site may even turn away potential customers!
What is content marketing?

Content marketing can be defined as the creation and distribution of educational or entertaining information assets for generating brand awareness, and traffic lead generation opportunities. This type of content is generally free from advertising its own brands within it, unlike traditional advertisements which have become increasingly popular in today’s market environment.

Many consumers want to feel more informed about products before making purchasing decisions on their own terms rather than having someone else tell them what was good enough based solely on one company’s viewpoint alone (ie., “This product will make me successful! I want to buy now!”)

What is SEO?
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of using onsite and offsite tactics to help get content presented by a search engine. Done well, the practice increases the quantity and quality of your traffic.
Why is SEO important?
The majority of web traffic is generated by search and those that come by way of search have a greater degree of commercial intent than most other channels.
What is local SEO?
Local SEO is the process of optimizing your online properties to generate traffic from location-based searches. It helps businesses promote products and services to local customers when they need them.
What are keywords?
Keywords are the words and phrases searchers use—usually with search engines—to find relevant pages, images, videos, or any kind of information when looking for answers, knowledge, products, or services.
What is PPC?
PPC stands for pay-per-click. Essentially, it’s a way of buying web traffic. Advertisers pay a fee each time one of their ads is clicked. Search engine advertising is the most popular form of PPC, however numerous channels including Facebook now offer PPC ad models.
What is marketing automation?
Marketing automation is software that manages marketing processes and campaigns across multiple channels. It streamlines lead generation, segmentation, lead nurturing, lead scoring, measurement processes and more. An effective marketing automation tool helps identify your audience, create the right content, and automatically trigger actions based on customer behavior.
What is data-driven marketing?
The power of data can be harnessed for personalization in marketing. Data-driven insights give marketers a competitive edge over their competition, empowering them to make better decisions and reach more customers with personalized messages that will resonate on an emotional level!
What is a marketing funnel?
Marketing funnels are a great way to see how your customers interact with you and what they need before making a purchase. The metaphor of the funnel is relevant because it narrows as people progress through each stage, meaning that there’s less chance for sales at later phases than in early ones!
What is conversion rate optimization (CRO)?
Conversion rate optimization (CRO) is the process of increasing the percentage of conversions from your digital property, typically a web page. CRO involves executing tactics to improve the elements on your site (or app) through testing. Relative to your marketing funnel, CRO focuses on moving prospects to the next stage.
What is a lead magnet?
A lead magnet is a free offer you make in exchange for an email address (and possibly additional information). The purpose is to inspire prospects to join your email list by offering something of value. Examples include an ebook, guide, report, assessment, cheat sheet, tool, template, webinar, course, or a coupon.
What is lead nurturing?
Lead nurturing is marketing to prospects—usually via email—to move them further “down the funnel” and keep them involved and engaged with your brand. Consistently interacting at key points during the sales process will inevitably improve conversion rates and drive sales.
What is a call to action (CTA)?
A call to action (CTA) is a prompt that instructs the viewer to take a specific action. A call to action is typically written as a command, such as “Buy Now.” In digital marketing a CTA generally takes the form of a button or link.
How long does it take to see results?
Paid digital marketing programs like PPC should create results immediately. On the other hand, programs such as content marketing, email list building, and search engine optimization (SEO) require persistence and patience. You might see some results in a matter of months; however, it’s likely to be six months to a year before you realize some of your traffic and conversion objectives.
What’s the difference between On-Page and Off-Page SEO?

On-page SEO is the stuff you do on your own website – content, back-end optimization, and meta tags. Off-page search engine optimization (SEO) refers to what happens off of a site that relates directly to it such as domain authority or backlinks.
